All systems go for Pirates game


It’s all systems go as Cape Town prepares to host Ajax Cape Town and the reigning ABSA Premiership Champions, Orlando Pirates on Friday 27 April 2012 at the Cape Town Stadium. The game starts at 20h00.
Priority meetings with the Stadium Operators, the City of Cape Town, Security services, the South African Police Services, Traffic Police, Cape Medics, Catering Services, Vendors, Disaster Management and other role players have taken place. Now it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty, preparing the Stadium to receive the spectators and teams.
20 000 Tickets are already on sale and all indications are that this game is going to be a sold out affair. Tickets are available from all Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets as well as at Ikamva.
Tickets are also available from the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10h00 to 16h00. Gates open at 17h00 and fans are urged to purchase their tickets early to ensure access to the Stadium on match-day.
All spectators are urged to take note of the road closures as there is no parking at or near the stadium, all spectators are encouraged to park in the City Bowl and use the free event shuttle to and from the stadium.
The Park & Ride bus services will be running from the Civic Centre bus station in Hertzog Boulevard. The first bus departs at 17h00, thereafter a bus will leave every 15 minutes or when full. The last bus will leave the Cape Town Stadium bus station at 23:30
Transport to and from the Cape Town Stadium is free of charge on presentation of a valid match-day ticket.
Please note that there will be no special Metrorail train services or free rides for ticket holders will be provided for this event. Train services to Cape Town will run as normal as per the schedule.

An extended MyCITI bus service will run between the Civic Centre and Table View.
The hours of operation of the MyCiTi service between Civic Centre and Table View bus stations have been extended for this event; passengers are required to use the myconnect card to travel to the Civic Centre bus station. Cards can be purchased at any open Revenue Kiosk.
After the game, passengers will be able to use the service free of charge on presentation of a valid event ticket stub.
Buses will depart from the Civic Centre bus station every 30 min from 22h30 until 24h00 (last bus) and will only stop at Lagoon Beach, Woodbridge, Milnerton, Racecourse, Sunset Beach and Tableview stations.
The F14,F15 and F16 feeder routes will also depart Table View Station every 30min from 23h00 until 00h30am (last bus).
Road closures for match day are as follows;
• Fritz Sonneburg - Closed in both directions from 15h00 – 23h00
• Vlei Road – Closed in both directions from 15h00 to 23h00
Parking restrictions will be enforced in residential areas adjacent to Cape Town Stadium from 00:00 to 24:00 (midnight) on 27 April 2012, including on Main Road. Motorists are advised to obey all signage.
Limited parking for Mini Bus Taxis will be provided on Main Rd from York Rd towards Sea Point, P13 and P14 under control of the City Improvement District.
Dedicated parking for people with disabilities is allocated on DF Malan Drive for those attendees with disabilities who wish to use the Stadium shuttle. Only people with an official disability permit from the City will be allowed to park in this dedicated parking area.
There will be no charge for the limited disabled parking at the stadium in parking area P5 within the stadium precinct (which is located off Vlei Road). These tickets can be obtained on request by emailing Thabiso ( Shooz) Mekuto at shooz@ajaxct.co.za.
When requesting disabled passes, patrons are to include a copy of their identification document, a copy of the event ticket and proof of a legitimate disabled permit or a letter from a doctor indicating the need for such a parking space.
Disabled Parking access is issued at the discretion of the organisers and is subject to availability.
Parking is also available at the V&A Waterfront. There are approximately 3,500 parking bays available to the general public. There is a charge associated with this parking, and traffic flows into and out of the V&A Waterfront may be congested.
On-street parking is available within the CBD but no additional security will be provided. Parking tariffs will apply until 18:00 when on street parking becomes free of charge.
