Stekelenburg praises his players.
Maarten Stekelenburg the Ajax Cape Town had nothing but words of praise for his players after the game against Orlando Pirates at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening.
The Urban Warriors played to a one-all draw against Pirates.
He said, “We could have won this game tonight. My players did very well to control the pace of the game and create chances to score.
We changed things around a bit and the introduction of Clint Julius gave us pace on the flank, this clearly troubled the Pirates defence.
We did not play Manyama from the start because his picked up a niggling injury in training but we believe that he could give us thirty minutes so we thought to introduce him later in the game.
Overall we played very well tonight and there were the chances we I think we could have scored the winning goal. It’s never easy against Pirates but I told the defence to compress the midfield and they did that very well.
I believe that we showed how well we can play and I am convinced that we can still finish in the top four. We still have a game in hand and need to believe that we can collect the points from our remaining games then go out and do it.
